Certain things in New York remain only in memory. Barbecues in my East Village garden, that one time you looked at me across the garden and came to me mid-conversation, held me close and swaying. I laughed and we danced, drunk and soft. Probably too drunk to remember this properly. I think we fought later that night, but it doesn’t matter now.
I was hanging out in my backyard so I crawled into the jungle that is our orchard and found Hobo under the grapevine. Cats have it all figured out.
